Lamela fears for Argentina World Cup spot
Erik Lamela of Tottenham has admitted he will have to adapt quickly to the Premier League if he is to hold onto his place in the Argentina squad.
The 21-year-old attacker made the switch to Andre Villas-Boas' side from Serie A leaders Roma in August for a reported €35 million.
After a slow start to his Spurs career, Lamela concedes that he will have to quickly pick up the pace of England's top flight quick if he wants to be named in Alejandro Sabella's Argentina squad for next summer's World Cup.
"English football is a lot more physical," the River Plate product told Clarin. "It is not like the tactical game they play in Italy.
"I have talked a lot with my team-mates and I know I have to adapt quickly if I am to keep my place in the national team ahead of the World Cup."
Lamela has appeared seven times in all competitions for Tottenham, who currently sit sixth in the Premier League standings, with 13 points taken from their seven top-flight fixtures.
