Lamborghini announces plan for SUV which will hit the road in 2018

        Italian car maker Lamborghini has confirmed that it will be introducing a sports utility vehicle in 2018.

The car will be named Urus, and it will be the company's third model.

Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed the reports on the company's website, saying: "This is a proud moment for everybody in Lamborghini. The introduction of a third model line endorses the stable and sustainable growth of the company and signifies for us the beginning of a new era."

Talking about the attributes of Urus, he added: "The new SUV will be made in Sant’Agata Bolognese, demonstrating our commitment to safeguarding the values of ‘Made in Italy’ worldwide."

The company also confirmed that it will be expanding its current factory site from a capacity of 80,000 square meters to about 150,000 square meters which will accommodate the manufacture of it's new product; this will also see them hire 500 new employees.

The company will target certain markets for this new product not limited to: the United States, China, the Middle East, the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia.

About 3,000 units will be sold per annum, which "will double the company’s current sales performance."
