Injury Blow For Real Ahead Of Madrid Derby
Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez is expected to be out for at least two months after sustaining a broken foot in the 2-1 victory over Sevilla and would miss the match against Atletico Madrid.
Rodriguez was substituted midway through the first half after opening the scoring for Real Madrid. He was taken to the hospital and signs showed that he had damaged a bone in his foot and could be out for at least two months.
In other injury news Madrid could also be without center back Sergio Ramos
Ramos came off the field after just nine minutes into the game with a suspected hamstring problem although boss Carlo Ancelotti would be hoping it not be a serious problem.
Madrid would be short at the back with Ramos out as they would be left with only Varane and Nacho as their only fit first team defenders with Pepe still out with injury. Marcelo is also suspended for the game after receiving a booking, ruling him out of the game.
Madrid would be boosted though by the return of Star man and Ballon D'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo after serving his two match ban for his sending off against Cordoba on January 24.
The win at Sevilla leaves Madrid four points clear of Barcelona at the top of the La Liga standings and would look to extend that lead with victory over rivals Atletico who sit third in La Liga with a seven point difference.
