All you need to know about the new Gulfstream G500
Earlier this week Gulfstream Aerospace had the first test flight for its new aircraft: G500. Gulfstream Aerospace is a subsidiary of General Dynamics, and a well known manufacturer of business jet worldwide.
The Savannah based company has eight different models currently in production: G150, G280, G350/G450, G550, G500, G600, G650 and G650ER.
The G500 was launched in 2014, and it has a unit cost of about $43.5 million. It has the following Specifications:
Maximum Range: 5000 Nautical Miles (9260 km)
Passenger Capacity: About 18
Maximum Speed (High-Speed): Mach 0.925
Long Range Speed: Mach 0.85
Maximum Take-off Weight: 76,850 pounds (34,859 kg)
Maximum Cruise Altitude: 51,000 feet (15,545 meters)
Engines: Two PurePower PW814GA by Pratt & Whitney Canada
The cockpit features cutting-edge technology, with integrated touchscreen controllers, active control sidesticks, and a next-generation enhanced vision system. The air is also very clean,and it is replenished with 100 per cent fresh air every two minutes.
The aircraft has a quiet cabin and extra large windows to flood the space with natural light. Gulfstream projects the G500 will receive type certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration and European Aviation Safety Agency in 2017 and begin deliveries in 2018.
