Sami Khedira confirms he is leaving Real Madrid on a free transfer
The Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has accused the La Liga club of freezing him out of the team after contract extension talks broke down even though he was fit to play.
The 28 year old confirmed on Facebook that he will leave the Spanish giant, he quoted
"Valdebebas... La ultima.. Me voy pero lo voy a echar de menos mi club Real Madrid, todo su alrededor, mis inmejorables compañeros. Compañeros, ha sido un placer!" which translates to "Valdedebas for the last time. I am moving on but I will surely miss my club Real, all of its staff and my unbelievable teammates! Guys, we had an outstanding journey together!"
Khedira told Spanish newspaper Marca that he was no longer wanted at the club, he said "I did have a small injury, a pain in my right heel, but that wasn't why I wasn't playing."
"It wasn't a complicated injury, I was able to play. "I've always felt that I've had the coach's backing, but the message indirectly came through to me that I was no longer needed, I was frozen out and wouldn't have a chance to continue playing. It’s not the end that I wanted. It hurts that I’m accused of a lack of professionalism because I’ve always put the team ahead of myself. I’ve always gone with the truth."
Talking about his absence from Real Madrid's team sheet for the final La Liga game against Getafe on Saturday, he added: "Nobody from the club said anything to me directly, It's all feelings, incidents and comments saying I wouldn't play anymore. But nobody approached me."
"What has happened this season has hurt me to the bottom of my soul."
The German midfielder has made 161 appearances for the spanish club since joining in 2010, and has found back of the net 9 times.
