Fiorentina sack head coach Vincenzo Montella

       Fiorentina have announced that Vincenzo Montella's contract as head coach as been terminated.

The club stated on their official website, saying: "ACF Fiorentina have valued the recent behavior of head coach Vincenzo Montella as a clear desire to break free of a contract legitimately signed less than two years ago,"

"So, with great regret, we must note a failed level of trust necessary for the continuation of any relationship, and we are therefore forced  -for the good of the club - to dismiss Vincenzo Montella."

"The situation obviously creates sudden organisational problems which we must resolve urgently."
 
"We would have expected behavior that was clearer, more respectful and less ambiguous with respect to a club and fans who gave him so much."

Montella had been under pressure after he criticized the behavior of some of the club's fans toward the end of the season.

Fiorentina will play in the Europa League next season after Montella guided them to a fourth place Serie A finish.
