Floyd Mayweather officially announces $250m mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao
The fight every boxing fan have waited for will finally take place on May 2. Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will face unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas.
Mayweather made the announcement on Friday via the social media website Shots.com, saying, "What the world has been waiting for has arrived. Mayweather vs. Pacquiao on May 2, 2015, is a done deal." He added, "I promised the fans we would get this done, and we did."
Mayweather,37, is a WBA and WBC welterweight world champion, and also winner of all of 47 games he has fought as a professional boxer. Meanwhile Pacquiao,36, who is the only fighter to win world titles in eight weight divisions posted on twitter about the announcement and thanked he fans, saying the "fans deserved the fight".

He added,
I dedicate this fight to all the fans who willed this fight to happen and, as always, to bring glory to the Philippines.

Talking about the fight, Freddie Roach who is Pacquiao's trainer said: 'Floyd should enjoy being the A-side while he can because on May 2, Manny is going to put him on his backside.'The fight announcement also attracted lot of interest from people and icons around the world. Ken Hershman, who is the president of HBO Sports said, "This is the biggest boxing event of all time, we're confident of that. We couldn't be prouder to be a part of it and help craft it."
The United States media reported that Mayweather will receive 60 percent of the purse and stands to make some $120 million, Pacquiao taking $80 million.
