Marco Reus Signs New Contract With Dortmund Until 2019
Borussia Dortmund Star Marco Reus has extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2019 the club has confirmed.The 25 year old german has attracted interest from all of Europe's top clubs including Real Madrid Manchester United Arsenal and Manchester City.
The forward was expected to leave Dortmund in the summer with his previous contract containing a release clause of 25million euros, a bargain price for a world class player given the current situation of today's transfer market.
Reus now looks set to stay at the club who are currently fighting to stay at the Bundesliga top flight but got back to winning ways against Frieburg with a 3-0 victory with Reus opening the scoring in that game.
On signing the contract Reus said "I am very happy having decided to stay at BVB".
"Dortmund is my hometown and Borussia is my club. I am looking forward to a successful future with our team,with our fantastic fans standing behind us.There's a lot of work to do and i want to help carrying the burden".
Dortmund CEO Joachim Watzke is thrilled with the midfielders extension "We never trusted those transfer rumours and we always believed in our good chance that this extraordinary player will explicitly decide to commit his future to BVB".
"Marco can be the key player of an era,like Uwe Seeler was at Hamburg or Steven Gerrard at Liverpool".
"It is identification with the club at the highest level that he decided to renew his contract in the midst of a footballing crisis.We are very proud of it"
Dortmund take on Mainz in the Bundesliga on Friday and would be looking to continue their climb up the table
