FA Cup- Shocking Results As Premier League Big Boys Stunned
Chelsea and Manchester City were both knocked out of the FA cup by championship sides Bradford and Middlesbrough as last night's results proved to be one of the most shocking of the season.
Chelsea were home to Bradford with everybody looking to the match to be walk in the park for the premier league leaders and it was proving to be just that as first half goals from Gary Cahill and Ramires looked set to put Chelsea on their way.
But Bradford had other ideas as they pegged the champions back 2-2 fifteen minutes into the game before going on to win the game 4-2 at Stamford Bridge with goals from Jonathan Stead Filipe Morais Andy Halliday and Mark Yeates sealing their victory.
Mourinho named a very unfamiliar side with one eye at the league cup second leg with Liverpool and a weekend clash with Manchester City on another. Mourinho made nine changes to his side with only Gary Cahill and John Obi Mikel retaining their places.
The first goal came from a set piece from Chelsea as Oscar played in an in swinging corner and Cahill was on hand to head the ball into the back of the net on 21 minutes. Chelsea doubled their lead when Bradford lost the ball in the middle of the park to Ramires and the brazillian made his way towards goal playing a one-two with Salah before guiding the ball off the post into the back of the net on 38 minutes.
Stead pulled one back for the visitors with a fierce left-footed strike which Cech got a hand to but could not prevent it from going into the back of the net. The equalizer came from Bradford when Chelsea failed to deal with a long throw and Morias was on hand to tap the ball home after an initial save for Petr Cech.
It turned from bad to worse for Chelsea as the visitors stole the lead in the 82nd minute as Halliday found the back of the net after a lay off from Stead and another lay off from stead brought the fourth goal from Yeates as he curled the ball into the far corner to produce one of the greatest upsets this season.
At the Etihad Patrick Bamford and Kike notched in both goals as the Champions were knocked out of the competition.
A mix up between Fernando and Willy Caballero led to the first goal as a back pass from Fernando and a Willy Caballero miss kick allowed Bamford to play it over the line.
City did their best to find the equalizer with Aguero Jovetic and Lampard all coming close but a swift counter attacking display set Middlesbrough to their second of the night through Kike.
